This thread shows if nothing else that we live in Orwellian times.
Truth and facts have become a major casualty in modern politics. Lying and more importantly being caught out lying doesn't matter anymore, it's become so normalised that we are completely numb to our elected representatives doing this on a regular basis.
And the media allow this to happen, because they have given up proper scrutiny of politicians. The public are happy because they believe all politicians are lying (although some are not) so they can back the ones that provide them the happiest outcomes and the least disruption to their lives. even though deep down they know what is on offer to them is bollocks.
It makes this an interesting era to live in, if not a little scary.

And you dare to post about self awareness.
Like I said, you have no idea how a Tory voter thinks, let alone what motivation a Tory activist, Councillor or MP might have - yet you're continually posting about it, continually asking if we're 'proud' of whatever sectional interest you have on that particular day. It's pathetic. At least when the well-dressed sorts were on here there was some degree of intellectual rigour.
Now even more of my friends are in Parliament I strongly suggest you come down to meet them and see the work they actually do for communities and why they do it rather than continually bleating about the unfairness of it all. They'd be happy to receive you.
Intellectual rigour? It’s a football message board first and foremost. So you admit, none of your posts can be considered intellectual?

I don’t agree with the way the most vulnerable were treated during the last decade. Having worked and experienced first hand the struggles they and those that are trying to work with them have faced. I won’t take any lectures off anyone with respect to asking if they are proud to sanction / support / endorse cuts to the most needy whilst the rich have barely suffered any inconvenience to themselves. The party in power during that time happen to be the party I am most critical of. There is a link and it’s not ideological on my behalf.

That's a classic coming from the poster who spends most of his time putting words in other peoples mouths and deciding what their motivation is.
What words have I put in peoples mouths? Well, here's one example:
https://wbaunofficial.org.uk/showthread....2#pid94732
“This is the calibre of politician that JOK and others are so confident in thinking will deliver a better future...”
Take a bow Truss!

Which is why it's so important to encourage and support the greatest weapon we have against poverty.

Why does it have to be one extreme or another? Why does the gap have to be so big? That isn’t about aspiration that’s just greed and selfishness. A society should look to narrow the gap it won’t hurt the rich and it will only help the poor. I envisage society will be better served by a more even playing field.
Just because there have always been poor people doesn’t mean you just shrug your shoulders and say oh well that’s just the way it is.

JOK, as the Tories at the time were in power and you supported Brexit you put your Truss’t (see what I did there) in them whichever way you vote party politically. That isn’t putting words in anyone’s mouth.

And to be more clear, I never had any confidence that Brexit would be delivered as the vast majority of MPs were of the remain persuasion.

It's not hard to understand Dekka.

The trouble with this argument is the obscenely rich hide most of their cake in a different cupboard under the stairs. The greedy bastards wouldn’t want anyone else eating an extra slice / crumb off their table.
