What would you do with the BBC

That simple.

Can't disagree more.
One of the great achievements of our country. Embodiment of the best British values. A huge range of great programming, on 6+ radio stations, the fabulous iPlayer

There are some good points above, and no organisation is beyond criticism.

But just think what we'd have without it.
Acres of Sky, that LBC phone in station, with all the others that do little else, Fox news would come in, we'd lose wonderful dramas, replaced with hours of advertising.

£150 a year is dirt cheap for an objective news organisation alone.
How much do we pay for Sky p.a.?
And what would we have to pay if Amazon prime replaced the BBC?

We don't know what we've got until we lose it ..

And then just maybe people would read books or go out a bit more. The real issue is the forcing people to pay for it

Notwithstanding that - with such a wide range of output - there are inevitably things not to my particular tastes, I still think the Beeb does more things well than any other mainstream broadcaster.

Their natural history output is some of the best to be found anywhere in the world, and yet they shy away from some issues completely and contractually gag certain presenters whose opinions still find their way into the public domain by other means, rendering the sanitising pointless.

As an example, Countryfile in its broadcast form is sentimental tripe; on the other hand Ellie Harrison in print is borderline apocalyptic when it comes to climate and other environmental issues.

In the round I don't object to the licence fee; for me it represents good value.

I don't use BBC, hence I refuse to pay for it. That means I can't watch any live TV, which us so moronic it's insane anyone who doesn't eat crayons defends it.

If the BBC is so great, it could easily fund itself.
It could
But it wouldn't be the BBC any more.

But why should I be forced to pay for it when I have no intention of watching it?

It’s a metaphor for left wing mentality. We know what’s best for you and we will force you to pay for it, regardless of if you agree or not!

Exactly why I could never be a Socialist. I should be the only person who decides what I spend my earned money on.

Scrap the BBC tax, people who want it, pay for it.

I’d like to see more transgender vegans with mental illness.

I'd even pay for a licence if they stf up about Man U. And I dont live there!

Serious, every single football piece, longer than about 6 lines, manages to mention them one way or another.

What is that about? Do the BBC have a contract with ManU? They fgn must have.
