If we play 46 games in a season, the number of outfield players we can use at a time is 11x46 and if we deduct the number of substitutions and red cards by a constant we shall call k, we can realistically hope to put out a team of 15 outfielders and 2 goalkeepers. Will Jenkins and Dowling sanction this? I don't know but if we line up with 11 players, it will tell us a lot about their ambitions and undermines the wants and needs of baggie bird and the boilerman who put their time and devotion into making this club the proud team it once was.
