Let me explain again. There are four possible teams that can get promoted, true. However, Albion only have to play against 2 teams not 3. So we will be 1 of 3.

I see what you’re saying but that isn’t how probability works.

You look at all possible outcomes, of which there are four.

It’s like saying in a 32 team World Cup you have to play seven games to win it so your chances are 1 in 7.

Yes. It’s a simplistic way of looking at it from Albion’s situation.

Back to the original thread, chuffed we are in this position, I certainly thought we'd ship out more players, go into administration, and be fighting the drop.

Superb stuff this.

The chances are 100% if we win it and 0% if we don’t.

Even the way you describe still adds up to 1 in 4….

We have to beat two teams, that much is true. We have a 50/50 chance of getting past the first team -
0.5, then another 50/50 or 0.5 chance of winning the final.

0.5 x 0.5 is 0.25 or 1 in 4.

Can't be arsed reading all this but as a maths expert, 50% + 50% = 25% in these terms.

If we are in the same league next season, Carlos could be tempted by a prem team.
