Didn’t think you drove?

What the fuck you on about now?

Sorry I thought you only used public transport.

I reckon there's a very clear distinction between people who think cars matter and people who don't. I've messed with cars all my adult life, owned cheap "classics", done clutch changes, engine re-builds, welded floor pans to patched up sills etc. I like to own a car that meets my needs. But I've never for a moment considered what my car says about me or what others think of it.

As a result of which, I've never even come close to buying a BMW, Audi, Merc, Lexus, Range Rover or whatever. They've never come top in my value analysis. I could pop round to Bentley's shiny new showroom opposite the rubbish dump in Pym's Lane, Crewe and offer cash for one of their excellent cars, but I know I won't.

Cheshire is absolute top Clarkson Country. When my daughter was 9, a fat kid in her class said "Well we've got two Beemers parked in the drive so we must be doing something right". WTF?

It is.

Very nice early impressions tbf, I’ve only had it a week but it’s already a firm favourite in terms of comfort and economy.

The Bm's seem to pish all over Merc's as regards economy. Most of our company cars are Bm's (until you reach the upper echelons of management).

The interiors always look poor though compared to similar specc'd mercs. Although I'd imagine with the M-Sport it's the full leather package?

We have a Megane and a Qashqai, each with the 1.5 Renault diesel. 70 mpg and 50 mpg. Very happy with them.
