Hope so. Some lauding Smith were writing off DM after 1 game though they won't admit it - remember that and treat their expertise with a pinch of salt. It may work for villa but that may find Bruse did as good a job as possible after all and they ain't that great.

Mayo translation:

Lauding Smith - Rate an opposition manager based on his time at Walsall and Brentford. Thought he might be a good option for ourselves. The club did also.

Moore - Thought although he did exceptionally well at the end of last season that the appointment was a big risk given how finite our advantage is over almost half the division. This is still applicable but his record so far is excellent.

Moderating performance - 5 lacks balance and composure when dealing with opposition he doesn’t like.

Fergie was successful throughout his career whoever was behind him

Fergie always recruited the best number 2s around. That includes Steve McClaren who many forget was number 2 in their treble winning season.

A non league manager I know had a brief chat with Fabio Capello at an airport when their flight was delayed. He asked Capello what single piece of advice he would give about football management.

"You're only as good as the people around you" was his response.

Well Mitch Mitchel was a great drummer, but Jimi was main man who made it what it was  Big Grin
