Great manager and a good appointment for them, sadly

If given time and it's a big IF given their delusional status he will do a bloody good job

It's telling that Brentford fans are more worried about losing the set up behind the scenes and are confident of a more than adequate replacement.

Appleton would be a great move for them imo

It’s not really a lot of fans talk absolute shite. Set-ups work or don’t work with the right people in place. The structure itself may as well be written on a fag packet.

The right people are in the background and those people remain at Brentford. Dean Smith is a decent manager but he wasn't the sole reason for their current lofty position.

But ultimately the Head Coach / Manager will still have a key role in the success of a team. Get it wrong or make some backroom staff sacred cows foisted upon them never works over a sustained period. I console myself with this now Villa have the overbearing Terry alongside Smith.

Not a love in, but a recognition that he did a good job at both Walsall and Brentford.
