Ultimately, I don't want anymore people telling me they don't feel welcome because some people have to be edgy.

This is it.

Too many times the "fun" of banter descended into something else, rather more unsavoury.

People type and send what they wouldn't say in public or to people's faces.

Thankfully these people remain a small minority, but a loud minority when given a platform.

Just saying well done to birdie, a separate none football site would go down well with a lot of posters.

When I joined the bored, aside from how ridiculously welcoming the vast majority of people were to this Stokie, the great thing was the way conversations could swing from one thing to another very quickly.

I'd just been booted off the .com site, and coming onto this site really was like a breath of fresh air without so many pernickety rules. If there's a separate board for football and one for everything else, then surely you'd have to police it accordingly. This would involve admin having to intervene to tell people to stay on topic. Which board does that sound like?

Ultimately, I've always seen myself as a guest here on someone else's board. But I've loved my time on here as much, if not more than most at times, and I'd hate to see it become less than it was.

Just for the record, they split the Oatcake between football and other stuff many years ago, and I never felt that it was the same or as diverse in topic as it had been before.

Just a well meaning outsider's point of view.

Am I misunderstanding something? The new rules state that racism, sexism, homophobia or indeed bigotry in any form will not be tolerated. If you feel that this will in some way curtail your ability to post what you want then have a fucking word with yourself. The way some folk are talking, "shall we split the site into football and non-football" as if it'll be fine to post bigoted shite on a non-football section of the bored???

+ bloody 1 Birdy, some of the attitudes on here are bewildering. You can post whatever you like, on whatever subject you like as long as it isn't bigoted nonsense. This is not difficult and most people manage it 99% of the time.

Sums up my views on the matter.

Now, if we’re getting rid of misogyny, is The Waggle going? Again, if you have to go onto a football site for your soft porn you should see what you can find on the incognito tab!

Saying Villa & everything associated with the club are cunts & other stuff

Is this still allowed or are they exempt?

Another suggestion....

On the board previously

There was an icon you could click on

Thumb Up -Like

Thumb Down- Dislike/Disagree

Saves a lot commenting & maybe escalating debates etc
