3 teams qualifying automatically for a World Cup is stupid.

And the bid recommended an average ticket price of $430

Ridiculous that Canada, USA and Mexico will all get direct entry into the competition! Hopefully their CONCACAF region will have their qualification places reduced by 3 to allow for this, otherwise we'll see some very poor sides qualify at the extent of better sides from Europe/South America now the 2 strongest sides in the region have been given a free pass.

$430 a ticket.... suppose it's benchmarked on what the locals are used to paying for NFL games!

Never thought of the three teams automatically qualifying. You'd be pissed if you were one of the other CONCACAF teams.

That’ll make it three times Mexico have hosted the World Cup - 1970, 1986 and 2026 - since England had it in 1966. FIFA really don’t like us, do they?

As for there being 3 host countries automatically qualifying, aren’t there plans in place for 48 teams to qualify for 2026?

Not to mention the second time the Yanks have had it, having had it in '94.

Ultimately England is a saturated market for football, with little extra funds to be generated for FIFA by hosting it here. USA/Canada are a huge opportunity, much like the slowly developing Russia and oil rich Middle East.

They'll wrap it up in "needing to spread the game around the world" and whilst we refuse to tow their desired line and not merge England, Wales, Scotland and NI's national teams, we'll never see a WC here.

IMO India or China will host a FIFA World Cup before England

It’s remarkable what you can achieve when you prosecute a bunch of FIFA executives.

Nailed on.

Shocked China weren’t in the race for 2026... india have quite a way to go in terms of infrastructure and would require FIFA to put their hand in their pocket... and with USA basically winning on the strength of promised profits it’ll be be a cold June day in Delhi before that happens.

It's effin unreal.

I did know about the combined bid, but never thought it would end up with three teams automatically qualifying, but then again when you think about it.......

Ticket prices are mad over in the US. I was over there two weeks ago when, what we would call the semi final of the NBA was on, GSW v Boston. Bearing in mind it was the best of seven games, people were paying $10,000 for a 'ringside seat' every game.

I'd love to go to this WC, but it's obvious 'normal' people will end up being priced out of it.
