It’s his birthday today. Hopefully someone’s bought him a spine.

If they have he can share it with 3/4 of the squad.

We spent two summers trying to sign this bloke. What a club.

The problem with him is that people have seen what he can do but we don't see it enough. Just because we don't see him running at players though doesn't particularly means he not playing well enough, he's still tracking back and putting the effort in but he's lost all confidence going forwards to try and beat his man which you could argue was his job.

Compare him to Burke who will run at anybody but so often makes the wrong decisions and loses the ball, mainly through inexperience but he is a danger.

Phillips is far more predictible but loses the ball less (unless he's taking free kicks).

I guess it depends what you want from your wide players.

It’s as if he’s had a coach for a couple of years telling him to focus on defending at all costs and not to worry about taking his full back on...

You're right, it's amazing when you think about it. The amount of speculation, updates, headlines about our pursuit of him that lasted for bloody seasons, you'd think he would have been half decent. Think we were the only Prem club interested, which make sure it more ridiculous.

If his focus was on defending he wouldn't be shirking tackles.

We were also looking at Rodriguez for ages as well.

What a resounding success he's turned out to be...
