Rough pubs...
#1
Went past The Castle in Dudley today. Fuck, what a hellhole that place looks. Karaoke every other day 1-5pm catering for the benefits crowd. Rough looking bloke with arm in a sling with a Staffie, red-faced woman with too much jewellery- ticked all the boxes. Anyone been in to confirm my fears?

Isn't Dudley where the EDL are based?

There's a dodgy looking Irish bar in Digbeth but I can't for the life of me remember why I was around there and what it was called.

There's one right opposite Selfridges, forgotten the name but it looks rough. Is the Merecat still going? Wasn't that place open all hours for the market trade? I remember being in their once, vaguely.

It was near the police station, was walking back with a mate from the institute. Think it was Hennessey's or something.

Only pub that I know of Selfridges is the bull ring tavern.

I used to go in the Castle when I was 15, at the time Banks's used to run a £1 a pint offer from 2pm until 6pm on Mild, Bitter & Heineken.

The bar scared the shit out of us so we'd use the lounge, which housed a mental bloke called staff who would randomly start shouting "Cuckoo" every ten minutes.

The bogs were skin to the ones in that Bookies in Trainspotting, only there was graffiti offering "Snuff Video's" and at one stage child porn.

It was, errm, different.

Nice.

I remember The Shrewsbury being tasty as well... What about The Three Crowns at the top of the night Street?

If you want rough pubs head to Erdington. One of had karaoke from 11 am and it was in full swing by 12:00. I once went into the cross keys and everybody in there except for me had some sort of deformity of injury like a broken arm, there was one bloke in there who looked like half his nose had been bitten off!

The Karaoke hours for The Castle made me chuckle. I mean, how do these people afford these sessions? Are they the retired rich I wonder?

Just had a look on Google maps and it wasn't Hennessey's, it was in the other direction, near some run down snooker hall.

Hennessey's rang a bell as we asked some pissed bloke where to watch the 6 nations a few months ago and get a pint and he said in a strong southern Irish accent to go there. I was the only person supporting England I think. Looked dodgy on the outside and stank of burning but was decent on the inside.
