I’m centre left despite the best attempts by some on here to pigeon hole me as some kind of Marxist. The gap between what I hold dear and those that are unquestioning in their support of this current government do is far too big to bridge. Let’s put it this way I doubt any of those criticising my lack of contrition would be accepting of a Corbyn led government with a current record like this one.

Compromise would mean a political move to the centre of politics which I’d be very happy with but is that really going to happen when the gap between cultures is so big?

You will have to help me out.

What are centre politics, what are the policies that would define centre politics.

Here you go...

Centre-left politics or center-left politics (American English), also referred to as moderate-left politics, are political views that lean to the left-wing on the left–right political spectrum, but closer to the centre than other left-wing politics. Those on the centre-left believe in working within the established systems to improve social justice. The centre-left promotes a degree of social equality that it believes is achievable through promoting equal opportunity. The centre-left has promoted luck egalitarianism, which emphasizes the achievement of equality requires personal responsibility in areas in control by the individual person through their abilities and talents as well as social responsibility in areas outside control by the individual person in their abilities or talents. The centre-left opposes a wide gap between the rich and the poor and supports moderate measures to reduce the economic gap, such as a progressive income tax, laws prohibiting child labour, minimum wage laws, laws regulating working conditions, limits on working hours and laws to ensure the workers' right to organize. The centre-left typically claims that complete equality of outcome is not possible, but instead that equal opportunity improves a degree of equality of outcome in society. In Europe, the centre-left includes social democrats, progressives and also some democratic socialists, greens and the Christian left. Some social liberals are described as centre-left, but many social liberals are in the centre of the political spectrum as well.

Are you suggesting we have that currently?

More of a mission statement as to what you want, not a road map of how to get it.

I’ve missed the part where I said i was starting my own political party and that I would be bringing out a manifesto shortly.  Big Grin

There's no point, the Tories are giving him everything he wants. He's closer the Tory government position on everything he listed than I am FFS sake.

Nah, it’s just meant loads of Katie Hopkins fans, right wing commentators, UK, US Israel flag avatar types and their American Trump counterparts have flounced to Parler a crap version of Twitter because they think Twitter is censoring them.

Nothing good came from extremes of left or right.

It was more of a question: is a peaceful consensus possible any longer?

Not unless those shouting the loudest and those with financial and political power believe that the centre ground of politics is to their benefit or they believe it to be.

I'm really at a loss to understand what you don't consider centrist about the current government. You've explained what you understand "centre-left" to be and you have it all right now in spades.

The state is bigger than it's ever been, what more could you possibly want?

Your at a loss why we supported so many people during a pandemic you mean? If not answer the questions I put to you before about what you would have done differently financially / support wise that wouldn’t have seen wide spread disorder on a huge scale.
