My experience of Irish fans (mainly chatting to taxi drivers) when I worked over in Dublin was that there were OK with England mainly due to their obsession with the Premier League (Liverpool and Man United in particular). 

Scotland and Wales hate us and always will.

It’s the Premier League and the deep rooted desire that most Irish have to return to The Union behind their love and respect of the English.
