Another week of about 20% reduction in the numbers in hospital in England which is good news. Lots of noise about cases and hotspots plus vaccine take-up or decline but the figures are continuing to reduce at a steady rate. If you look at the numbers they have been between 19% and 27% for the whole period after the 3rd Feb.

Compared with last summer from the time we got below 10k in hospital it was 4 weeks before it got below 5k and a further 4 weeks before it got below 2k. This time it was 3 weeks between below 10k and below 5k and another 3 before it got below 2k, so read into that what you will but that sounds positive to me.

Obviously there have been further restrictions released this week that will feed through in the next couple of weeks, the main one being pubs opening outdoors with the added risks that come with that but so far so good.

I'd be amazed if people drinking in beer gardens will have any effect at all. Of the restrictions lifted this week, indoor stuff like retail and gyms more likely to have an effect.

I was more thinking about the loss of inhibitions after a few Rich after seeing the London street pub pictures this week. I don't think it will make a big difference though and hopefully we continue on the downward trend.

we seem to have restrictions that go to the extreme though after waiting 7 months to watch my grandson play
the school where they are playing have told us no parents are aloud, the parents must drop there children off outside the school and wait till the game is over and collect them.
they do not even have to go into the school they walk around the school to play on the  3g pitch behind the school.
just wondered what your thoughts was i thought this was over kill .

It would seem reasonable to have parents /grandparents around the pitch as long as they were spaced out sensibly. It's outdoors as well so that makes it safer. Which area is it? I'm wondering is it anything to do with the Smethwick local hotspots they wee talking about earlier.

no mate he plays for walsall development at u15 level so there not kids the school is the ormiston  acadamy school in  pelsall walsall

Seems mad keef, i reckon places are that afraid they just go to the nth degree when it isn't necessary when it would be reasonable to allow the few spectators that were there as long as they spaced out.
