It's only hindsight if you weren't told it in advance. The government were told about what was needed in advance, they decided not to follow the advice coming out of the committee recommendations last June. Are you really going to try to defend this one? Your already shredded reputation rides on you showing just a bit of common sense here.

Ok, I'm not involved in manufacturing, but exactly how difficult is it to knock up some facemasks? Surely much of this stuff could be commissioned and made in little or no time. Are we really so bereft of manufacturing?
I noticed early on, Angela Merkel saying one sure thing they have learned, is not to depend on countries outside Europe for ventilators.

Just seen a read a piece on twitter that the people who was making the aquasations are labour activists blow me down with a feather.
