Pundits don't really know the ins-and-outs of every club, but the masses think they have some kind of insider knowledge of every single one.

When you realise they're just blokes paid to give an opinion, any one of us could do it - a lot of us have been watching football a long time, and can form an opinion. (And probably voice it better than Holloway and co).

It has always been that way. When you watch pundits you expect an ex-player to be able to offer insight and analysis that the average bloke watching wouldn’t be aware of, they’ve played the game, they know the players, what they’re thinking, how they’re likely to react, etc (Neville and Carragher are good at this) but most of the time we get bland shite that any idiot could spot.

The best pundits are Richardson’s crew of journos on BT.

The irritation is that if they just talk solid sense it's "boring".

The story is based on throw away comments made by Ian Holloway on quest on Saturday night football. I’m no fan of Holloway  but it’s not like he went to a newspaper or held a press conference criticising the Albion. It’s pretty thin gruel for football journalism that they made a story out of it.

Indeed, it's probably the most factual thing that site has posted .
