What's better since 2010 Update - Derek Hardballs - 02-25-2020

Someone will try and argue that's what they voted for, no doubt!

Health? - Nope!
Serious Crime - Nope!
Social Care - Nope!
Disability Care / Rights / Support - Nope!
Social Mobility - 'Stagnant' Stalled, Stopped
Education - Crumbling buildings, days cut from calendar
Social Cohesion - Helll Nope!
Economy - Stalled, most likely to go backwards
Prison Service - Nope
Legal System - Nope!

To those who voted for this, I take my hat off to you for loyalty, sheer bloody mindedness, football fan supporting fandom! For any sense of fairness, wanting better for all I will firmly place my hat back on, shake head and walk away.

The roads... okay, maybe not the roads.

An aqueduct?

Dome Mongers - Nope!

Originality of Dekka’s posts. Nope.

The UK's relationship to the EU. (Cue the same asinine question about 'TANGIBLE BENEFITS!!' uttered like a magic incantation, knowing that leavers didn't vote leave for 'TANGIBLE!' reasons.)

The economy hasn't 'stalled'. Put your Daily Mirror down. Our growth is comparable with and, depending on the quarter over the past 12 months, exceeds Germany's.

You also missed-out that the highest number of people ever are in employment and unemployment at its lowest since 1975.

Still, don't let facts get in the way of your poorly-informed rants, eh?

Here is an answer for you. Hold on to your hat.

 Economy
Germany's economy stalled in the fourth quarter.

“PMI surveys 'reassuringly solid'
“Borrowing set to undershoot forecast.”
“Manufacturing output picks up in February.”
“Labour market 'showed impressive strength'.”
Does not quite match up to your unsubstantiated rant, does it?
 Housing

Social care/inclusion
Germany has as many Food banks as the U.K.
3.5 million people in France rely on Food banks.
Last count, 1.9 million people in Italy use Food banks.
More Dutch Families making use of FoodBanks.
https://nltimes.nl/2019/08/21/dutch-families-making-use-food-banks
In fact food banks are Europe wide.
https://www.eurofoodbank.org/

Homosexuality was decriminalised in England and Wales in 1967, Austria 1971, Spain. 1978, France. 1982 & Germany. 1994
Same sex marriages are recognised in only 14 of the 28 states (inc the uk)
Perhaps the EU isn’t as progressive with its inclusivity as you wet dream over.
Poland still has ‘Homosexual Conversion therapy’ The ruling Law and Justice party says the advancement of gay rights is a “grave danger” to family life. When the coalition that ruled for eight years up till 2015 ignored reforms to LGBT rights it was led by Donald Tusk. Remember him?
A third of Poland has now been declared an ‘LGBT-free zone’, making intolerance official. Nearly 100 Polish municipal or local governments have now proclaimed themselves to be “free from LGBTI ideology”.
Romania actively discriminates against its native Roma population.

Women given universal suffrage in the U.K. in 1928 with some 8 million plus obtaining the vote in 1918. By a Conservative / Liberal coalition. Portugal not until 1968 Belgium in 1948 and the great democracy of France in 1945. The first Equal Pay Act was passed in the U.K. in 1970! Before at least 14 of the other 27 member states.
Abortion has been legal up to 90 days of pregnancy in Italy and later in cases of ‘severe ‘ abnormalities since 1979 but it is almost impossible to get one. Trainee doctors aren’t even given any tutoring on terminations and GPs are also not educated in contraception. Let’s not forget the recent scandal of the poor women, often victims of rape or familial abuse having to secretly travel to England for treatment from Ireland.

Following more Brexit scare predictions (couldn’t be lies because, as we know, only leave supporters resorted to falsehoods) by Dame Grey-Thompson and others about how the U.Ks. Disabled would lose out following Brexit the Papworth Trust, a leading disability charity, says the UK is one of the more progressive of the 28 EU member states when it comes to the treatment of the disabled.
In 1970, the UK passed the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Ac, the first legislation in the world to award rights to disabled people.

When were women given universal suffrage in the U.K.? Oh, that’s correct, 1928 with some 8 million plus obtaining the vote in 1918. Portugal not until 1968 Belgium in 1948 and the great democracy of France in 1945. The first Equal Pay Act was passed in the U.K. in 1970! Before at least 14 of the other 27 member states.

Spain still does not have an independent body to tackle racism. Going on for 50% of Roma and non E.U. migrant children do not complete compulsory education in Spain. Croatia, Hungry, Poland, Serbia and even France do not even have a definition of discrimination in their equality legislation as required by the E.Us. Racial Equality Directive.
Despite your continual talking down of the U.K. I am certain it is still considered a pretty decent place to live. If it wasn’t why would thousands of poor, desperate souls cross numerous, UN declared “safe” countries to get here?

You kept assuring us and insisting that the new government would revert to draconian systems of public care within days of taking office. Not seen any reversal of any of the social measures as yet.
You kept insisting that the day we left the E.U. all areas of social care and inclusion would suffer, totally ignoring the fact our provisions, in many instances, out stripped other E.U. States after 10 years of a Tory government.
Still, I don’t suppose it suits your seemingly endless, one track train of thought to acknowledge that most, if not all of the ‘problems’ you listed are World Wide issues.

Finally, can you say categorically and for certain that those things would be significantly improved, by now, under Commie Corbyn. How many on your list have “improved” in other states?
Do we really need for you to continually remind us of your personal bogeyman?
Just for info:
France is led by a socialist party.
Italy has a centre left & an anti establishment party.
Germany is centre right.

Is that enough of an answer for you?    Doffs cap in your direction but you can't see because of your blinkers!

(For all others of a reasonable, balanced nature, I’m not, for a minute, suggesting things are hunky-dory. Just pointing out that the U.K. is not some black hole compared to a Utopian rest of the World/Europe)

The question was, what has improved since 2010 in the UK? All the whataboutery in your reply does is back up the argument that very little has. It’s a complete cop out to say oh it’s a global problem so you can excuse our governments failures / inertia / lack of progress.

As for your argument about Brexit, we still haven’t left, come back to me a year post Brexit and let’s reassess. Still waiting for the ‘Sun lit uplands’.

Poor old Dekka always looking at the world through the bottom of an empty pint glass.
