RE: Steve ‘Hardman’ Baker - baggy1 - 02-25-2021

By the 8th March when schools and colleges go back we'll have about 9k in hospital, if we give that 2 weeks to see what is happening and it hasn't come down to around 5k by that time then we'll know the r rate is rising and we have to step back a bit, if it's below 5k then happy days. That gives them a week to decide on what to do with the easing on the 29th March.

This really is step by step and then decide, the plan in place allows for each step to take place and there is no room for it to move quicker, only for it to be held back. So your initial statement of watching other countries with interest is a bit redundant then, especially as you also say it isn't helpful - glad we cleared that up.

That's the same data I'm reading. This has become about dates, not data.

Be honest folks, which of you would trust this lot to base any reopening on anything other than political expediency.

It looks like we will be the first large developed country to achieve mass vaccination yet among the last to be released from Lockdown.

Then govt reported at the turn of the year that when we reached 15million vaccines we will have reached the threshold to unlock. We're at 19m. There will always be another reason to stay locked down: another variant, efficacy of a single jab (err hello we can already see that), or the NHS meant to protect us all has to protect only those with Covid. Just imagine if they tested for influenza every year and we had a cases graph on BBC every night with a graph of hospitalisations and deaths. It obviously wouldn't be nearly as bad as Covid but it would drive a level of fear that compromises good decision making because decisions can only be taken in the court of public opinion and social media. That's where we are at. And meanwhile millions of other people are suffering in a multitude of other ways. We've had virtually the most vaccinations, a harder lockdown and yet many other countries are opening up before us with exactly the opposite.

Did they? And you may have misunderstood the context (another problem with being so far away from it all) we haven't reached 15m or 19m vaccinated, we've reached 18M who have had their 1st dose, they will be vaccinated fully when they receive their 2nd dose. That might clear up the context for you.

Harder lockdown than who? Millions of people are still going to work in Supermarkets, shops, factories etc, we had up until December kids and students going to school, shops were open, the ludicrous Eat Out to Help Out scheme, thousands going to the beach and protests. The idea that those outside of shielding have been lockdown hard is complete bobbins!

Depressing that a satirical news reader has more credibility than many ‘real journalists’ currently in this country.

Yes but what does the wife in Big Pharma think?

Brilliant!
If only that content was a spoof.
As he says, when will this government be properly held to account ?

At the next election. By which time they'll have dumped Boris and will romp home against Mr Forensic.

Too late by then as you mentioned.
The main characters will be off doing other lucrative things leaving the wake behind them.
So, no real accountability just like the latest lot seem to disassociate themselves with the previous 10 years of THEIR government.

Much rather serious forensic people in charge than lying clowns though...
